Alice Allen
Alice Allen was born on January 13, 1903 in Kingston, Arkansas to William Otto & Rosa Mary Belle (Gray) Sykes. She passed from this life on December 11, 2005 at the Allen Ranch in Bixby, Oklahoma at the age of 102 years, 10 months & 28 days.
Alice had been a resident of the Bixby community since 1937. She lived an extraordinary life and even authored her autobiography at the age of 93. She was a charter member of the Riverview Baptist Church, was active in starting the mission which led to the First Baptist Church of Leonard and was a member of the South Tulsa Baptist Church. She was always active in her church and was regarded as an excellent counselor and teacher for the youth and made many trips over the years to Falls Creek. She was also formerly active in the Bixby Garden Club and as a member of the Oklahoma Farm Bureau. She always strived to lift others up and will be remembered for the comforting words she would give to others. She was an accomplished seamstress and was extremely organized in everything she was involved in.
She married Floyd W. Allen, Sr. on July 22, 1924 in Independence, Kansas and after more than 58 years together, he preceded her in death on March 30, 1983. She was also preceded by 1 sister; Florence, 6 brothers; John, Will, Dan, Albert, Jess & Bob and 1 daughter-in-law; Leora Allen. She is survived by 4 sons; Carl Darnell and his wife Betty, of Marietta, Ohio, Floyd Allen, Jr. of Bixby, Ted Allen and his wife Fern, of Bixby & Don Allen and his wife Nathalie of Bixby, 11 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Casket bearers were David Allen, Stanley Allen, Paul Allen, David Randolph, Kelsey Thrasher & Wade Allen. Music was provided by Paul Allen & Elaine Holland.
