MARY RUTH ASHLEY

Mary Ruth (Crain) Ashley was born on October 25, 1924 in Ft. Necessity, Louisiana to John C. Crain & Zelma (Cupples) Crain. She passed from this life on December 17, 2010 in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 86 years, 1 months & 22 days.

Mary Ruth and her husband, Robert moved to Bixby on April 1, 2009 to be near family. During WWII, Mary Ruth worked in the shipyards and sent the money she made back home to her family to help pay expenses on the family farm. She married her husband of over 60 years, Robert Earl Ashley on March 1, 1947 in Harrisonburg, Louisiana. Mary Ruth was an accomplished seamstress and could be counted on to rescue an animal in need. She was also a devoted Christian of the Baptist faith.

She is survived by her husband, Robert Ashley of the home, 1 son; Randy Earl Ashley of Olive Branch, Mississippi, 2 daughters; Carolyn Poole of Bixby, OK & Regina Prewitt and her husband John of Olive Branch, Mississippi, 6 grandchildren & 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by 2 sisters; Gladys & Undean, and 5 brothers; Louis, Joe, George, Charlie and an infant brother as well as several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Casket bearers are Robert Ashley, Dennis Larson, Robert Larson, Jonathon Vanderburg, Bobby Prewitt & Kenny Prewitt. Music was provided by Melanie Larson & Donna Gibson.
