ANNA JANE BLANKENSHIP
Anna Jane Blankenship was born on March 19, 1933 in Muskogee, Oklahoma to Byrd McGuire Bennett and Helen Mable (Richards) Bennett. She passed from this life on September 13, 2011 in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 78 years, 5 months & 25 days.
Anna's life took her to many places over the years. She was the owner of Ann's Bar-B-Q in Seminole from 1967 to 1969. She married Harvey H. Blankenship on September 24, 1976 in Tyrone, Oklahoma and they moved to Liberal, Kansas where she worked as a bookkeeper and receptionist for the J.B. Cabinet Shop which she and Harvey were part owners of. They later moved to Dallas, TX and worked for a race horse ranch and Anna worked as the cook for the many ranch hands. They moved to Claremore, OK in 1980 and lived there until Harvey passed away on April 12, 1999. She then moved to Broken Arrow to be with Steve & Jean and lived with them, several senior apartments and finally, Cedarcrest Nursing Home. She will be remembered for her love of African Violets and how she was so successful in growing them. They were admired by everyone who came to her home. She was a member of the Bixby First Baptist Church and the Red Hat Society.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey as well as by her parents.
She is survived by 3 sons; Steve Dunn and wife Jean, of Broken Arrow, Marvin Bradley Dunn and wife Brenda of Oklahoma City & David Dunn and wife Linda, of Foyil, OK, 1 brother; Richard Bennett and wife Lynn, of Yukon, OK, 3 sisters; Mary Helen Tyler of Farmington, NM, Katy Benge and husband Abe, of Stillwater, OK & Wanda Scott of Midlothian, TX, 8 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, other relatives & friends.
