RUTH ELLEN BREASHEARS

Ruth Ellen Farrar Breashears was born on October 23, 1937 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Estil B. Farrar and Hazel L. (Snider) Farrar. She passed from this life on March 24, 2011 in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 73 years, 5 months & 1 day.

Ruth was the fourth child born to Estil and Hazel, coming after Joann, Peggy & John. Younger brother Jerry didn't arrive until almost 8 years later. Shortly after Jerry's birth, the family moved near Bixby where Ruth grew up and attended Bixby schools. Traveling with a military husband took Ruth to Crailshem & Ulm, Germany, Ft. Smith, AR, Lawton, OK, Ft. Polk, LA & San Antonio, TX. It was during a four year stay in Lawton and while working with church youth that they had the opportunity to choose to adopt Renata even before she was born. After Vietnam and life-changing situations, Ruth & Renata found themselves alone for some time. Ruth worked for over 20 years with Cities Service Oil & Gas. In 1973, she met Leo Breashears at a singles square dance and they married later that year on September 24, 1973 in Miami, OK. Leo brought into the marriage, David & Brenda which completed their family at five. They went camping, had cookouts and enjoyed Leo's famous pots of pinto beans and cookies. She and Leo stayed active in square dancing and always enjoyed their trips to the Smokey Mountains. They shared 36 years and 9 months of life together before Leo went home on June 11, 2010.

Ruth is survived by 2 daughters; Renata Kern and husband Dave, of Aurora, CO & Brenda Sanders and husband Steve, of Jenks, 1 son; Dave Breashears and wife Lisa, of Broken Arrow, 2 sisters; Joann Fonteno of Houston, TX & Peggy Baker of Bixby, 2 brothers; John Farrar of Bixby & Jerry Farrar of Tulsa, 5 grandchildren; Kacy Breashears, Sean Breashears, Tracy Sanders-Hefner, Kelcy Sanders & Hans Davis, 1 great-granddaughter; Gracie Hefner and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Music will be provided by Larry Clark. Casket bearers are Dwight Farrar, Bruce Baker, Clint Baker, Dave Proctor, Chase Fonteno & John Bowen.
