Betty Brents

Betty Brents was born on April 19, 1929 in Purdy, Oklahoma to John Nelson & Ella Lee (Winn) Welch, the youngest of eight children. She passed from this life on March 1, 2008 in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 78 years, 10 months & 11 days.

Betty grew up in Lindsay, Oklahoma and graduated from Lindsay High School in 1947. She worked most of her life as a bookkeeper. She was a single mom to her three daughters for ten years. During that time, she worked two and sometimes three jobs at the same time to provide for her daughters. On January 11, 1974, she married Billy M. Brents and they were married 32 wonderful years until Bill preceded her in death on April 4, 2006. She was a faithful and loving wife, mother & grandmother. She was a member of the Church of Christ and could often be seen reading her Bible. She loved rocking and reading to her grandbabies. All the grandchildren have wonderful memories of enjoying (and sneaking) candy from "Grandma's candy jar".

She is survived by 3 daughters; Melody Smith and husband Stephen, of Tulsa, Charm Frazier and husband Tom, of Tulsa & Kim Vangilder and husband Doug, of Bixby, 1 sister; Joy Cook of Washington state, 9 grandchildren; Leedy, Sheridan, Jordan, Kelcy, Savannah, Chisom, Easton, Kaitlin & Karissa, 4 great-grandchildren; Hudson, Garrett, Austin & Madelyn and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to her husband Billy, she was also preceded by 6 siblings; Kittie, Buster, James, Juanita, O'Teka & Billie.
