Lavanda Mae Brown

Lavanda Mae Brown was born on September 16, 1928 in Coalgate, Oklahoma to Fred & Faye (Lowe) Wagnon. She passed from this life on March 2, 2008 at her home in Bixby, Oklahoma at the age of 79 years, 5 months & 15 days.

Lavanda was a longtime resident of the Bixby community and had worked as a bookkeeper for the Ethridge Oil Co. for 25 years. She had also worked for Ramsey Chevrolet, Barney Bullock, A.C. Wise Insurance Co. and Citizens Security Bank. She was an active member of the Bixby Free Will Baptist Church and also taught Sunday School. She and her husband held lifetime memberships in several fox & wolfhound associations such as the Oklahoma State, Osage Hills, Cimarron Valley, Western Derby and Oklahoma Open associations. She held the title of ring mistress in these associations and was voted sports lady of the year. She was also active in her children's activities by serving as a Girl Scout leader and helping her husband develop and organize the Bixby Little League Baseball. She was a wonderful wife and mother and also loved to cook.

She is survived by her loving husband of over 58 years, John D. Brown whom she married on July 5, 1949 in Liberty Mounds. She also leaves 1 daughter; Sandra White of Bixby, 1 son; John L. Brown of Bixby, 1 sister; Imogene Ethridge of Branson, MO, 1 brother; Ronnie Wagnon of Bixby, 2 grandchildren; Patty Siwula of Winchester, KY & Kelli Brown of New York, NY, 3 great-grandchildren; Nicholas Jake & Tori as well as several nieces, nephew, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by an infant son; Larry Dale Brown.

Casket bearers were Jack Stafford, Matt Ciak, Roger Bell, John A. Brown, Terry Ethridge, Lewis Metcalf & Dan Deo. Honorary bearers were Lee Buntin, Glen Buntin, Ross Moore, Morris Dale O'Hern & Condell Pollard.
