Rose grew up in Putnam and was a member of the 1935 graduating class of Putnam High School. After graduation, she moved to Oklahoma City to live with her sister, Sadie and began attending Hill's Business College. It was during this time that she met Roy Lee Clinton and after a short courtship, they later became married on February 10, 1937. About five years later they were blessed with a daughter, Shirley Ann, who Rose was always very proud of and especially devoted to. After a few moves due to Roy's work as an Oklahoma Highway Patrol trooper, they settled into Guthrie in 1950, built their home themselves on Perkins Ave. and remained residents there the rest of their lives. Rose worked for 28 years at the First National Bank of Guthrie as a proof machine operator before retiring in 1982. She was an avid bowler for many years and was involved in many leagues and tournaments both locally and across the country. She and her good friend, Easy Newman, together owned the bowling alley in Guthrie for many years. She was also a big sports fan for all of her life, beginning when she was a small girl and would tuck her hair up in her cap so she could play baseball with the boys. She also enjoyed gardening and picking up the many pecans that fell from the trees in their yard and for many years, helped Roy in the harvesting of honey from the bees he loved to keep.
She was preceded in death by Roy Clinton, her husband of almost 46 years, as well as by her parents, 3 brothers; Ival, Johnnie & Hubert and 5 sisters; Edith, Elsie, Gertrude, Ada & Sadie. She is survived by 1 daughter; Shirley A.
