Joy Collins was born on November 13, 1929 in Maysville, Oklahoma to William Richard Carnes & Mary Jane (Swofford) Carnes. She passed from this life on July 6, 2010 in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 80 years, 7 months & 23 days.

Joy had lived in the Oklahoma City community for many years before moving to Bixby three years ago. She had previously worked in the legal department of Tinker Air Force Base and the Housing & Urban Development before her retirement in 1994. She was also a longtime residential real estate broker for her own realty firm, Joy's Realty and was a member of the Oklahoma State Board of Realtors. She was also a member of South Tulsa Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Buster Carnes as well as by her parents.

She is survived by her loving husband Earl L. Collins, whom she married over 47 years ago on February 16, 1963 in Oklahoma City. She is also survived by 1 daughter; Carol Joy Sommer and husband Sean, of Bixby, 1 sister; Jennalynn Edmonson of Springhill, TX, 2 grandchildren; Annaliese Joy Sommer & Justus Earl Sommer and several other relatives and good friends.

Casket bearers are Leon Hicks, Mark Romoser, Sean Sommer, Kevin Edmonson, Justus Sommer & Ben Edmonson. Honorary bearer is Tim Wuester.
