Linda Jane Eckert

Linda Jane Eckert was born on May 10, 1942 in Arch Rock, Pennsylvania to Clyde Franklin & Nellie Mae (Keemer) Hockenberry. She passed from this life on December 22, 2005 in Norman, Oklahoma at the age of 63 years, 7 months & 12 days. Linda grew up in Pennsylvania and attended Lockhaven State College. She worked for Penn State University in the Information Services Department before moving to Oklahoma in 1978. She then began working for the University of Oklahoma in the Continuing Education department. She was an avid fan of both the University of Oklahoma and Penn State University for all of her life. She was a longtime member of the Norman Regional Hospital Auxiliary and served as its President in 2002. Her family warmly remembers her loves of collecting beanie babies and piggy banks as well as for being an avid reader and a woman that loved her family very much and to whom she was completely devoted to.

She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 44 years, John P. Eckert, whom she married on December 22, 1961 in McVeytown, PA as well as by 2 sons; Mike Eckert and his wife Kristen, of Bixby, OK and Doug Eckert of Oklahoma City, OK, 2 sisters; Aura Kay "Pete" Miller of McVeytown, PA and Gail "Bobby" Dunmire of Conroe, TX, 4 grandchildren; Tanner, Rachel, Sarah & Wes Eckert, her mother-in-law; Hazel Mae Eckert of McVeytown, PA, a brother-in-law; Harvey Eckert and his wife Jackie, of Lewistown, PA, a sister-in-law; Pat Pecht and her husband Robert, of McVeytown, PA as well as several other family members and good friends. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Casket bearers were Mike Eckert, Doug Eckert, Brian Eckert, Max Peachey, Leon Peachey, Nick Peachey, Kent Knable & Rob Pecht.

The family asks that memorials be directed to the American Heart Association and also asks that each person consider becoming an organ donor.
