JIMMIE DEAN ENNIS

Jimmie Dean Ennis, 70, a longtime resident of the Okmulgee area went to be with the Lord on June 28, 2008 in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. Jim was born in Liberty Mounds at the home of his parents, Carl & Berthal (Pollard) Ennis on January 15, 1938.

He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Loveta (Judkins) Ennis, 1 son, Steve Ennis and wife Melody, 1 daughter; Cindy Atwell and husband Darrell. He had 5 grandchildren; Josh Atwell and wife Dana, Stephanie Callahan and husband Brice, Melissa Bonds and husband Chad, Jake & Ember Ennis, 1 great-grandchild; Jobe Dean Atwell and 1 expected in September. He is also survived by his mother; Berthal Ennis of Nuyaka, 1 sister; Barbara Wilson and husband Charles, of Liberty Mounds as well as a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends whom he treasured greatly.

Jim grew up in the Liberty Mounds area and began a Grade A dairy operation at the age of 14 while continuing his education at Liberty High School. He loved all aspects of agriculture and was very active in the Future Farmers of America becoming an American National Star Farmer in 1959.

He married Loveta in 1958 and they purchased and moved to several different farms dairying and running beef cattle. In the late 1960's, Jim & Loveta became real estate brokers and formed Ennis Real Estate Company specializing in selling farms and ranches while still operating a Grade A dairy. They later purchased Deep Fork Ranch from his father in the 1970's and ran a beef cattle operation, a commercial pecan growing business as well as a successful real estate business.

Jim became a Christian at a very early age sharing and instilling his morals and values into his family and all who came in contact with him. He served as a Deacon at Nuyaka Baptist Church which he attended from it's beginning in the late 1970's.

Casket bearers include Dick Melton, Darrell Wilsonr, Terry Tucker, Tom Wittman, Larry Story, Bryan Jones, Bennie Aspy & Dave Henshaw. Honorary casket bearers are Jim Couch, Raymond Love, Butch Roundsville, Raymond Hurn, Mike Crowell, Jim Arnold, Ellis Jackson, Jeff Creason, Jerry Creason, Weldon Jackson & Ronnie Wittman.
