Charley E. "Gus" Ethridge

Charley E. "Gus" Ethridge was born on March 22, 1934 in Leonard, Oklahoma to Basil & Hazel (Rice) Ethridge. He passed from this life on March 10, 2008 in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 73 years, 11 months & 17 days.

Charley had grown up in and lived in the Bixby community for most of his life until moving to the Branson, Missouri area in 1991. He was proud to have served his country as a member of the United States Air Force. He was the owner of Ethridge Oil Co. for many years. He also served his community as a past-president of the Bixby Jaycees and a longtime member of the Leonard School Board. He was a devoted Christian man that loved to study his Bible and had served as a Methodist Church deacon, taught Sunday School at Bethel Temple and supported the missionary work of Visionaries Ministries for many years. When he took time for himself, he loved going fishing at his favorite lake in Canada.

He is survived by his loving wife of almost 56 years, Imogene (Wagnon) Ethridge whom he married on May 31, 1952 in Van Buren, AR. He also leaves 1 daughter; Tracy Mooney and husband Ed, of Branson, 1 son; Terry Ethridge of Tulsa, his father; Basil Ethridge and wife Louise, of Bixby, 1 sister; Frances Ethridge of Grove, OK, 5 grandchildren; Levi Ethridge and wife Rhiley, Mike Ethridge, Heidi Ethridge, Megan Mooney & Blake Mooney, 2 great-grandchildren; Haylee Mooney & Keean Ethridge and several other relatives and good friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Hazel exactly eight years ago.

Casket bearers were Jason Wagnon, Shawn Wagnon, Robin Driscoll, Doug Driscoll, Paul Driscoll & Dave Foley. Honorary bearers were Everett Forrest, Melvin Cheatham, Carey Lawson, Ray Lomax, Dale Evans, Ken Herod & Tommy Turner.
