FLOYD I. SIMONS, JR.
Floyd Ivan Simons, Jr. was born on December 30, 1943 in Liberty Mounds, Oklahoma to Floyd Simons & Ruth N. (Earp) Simons. He passed from this life on March 21, 2009 in Bixby, Oklahoma at the age of 65 years, 2 months & 19 days.
Floyd had lived in the Bixby community for most of his life. Early in life, he worked with his father as a cattle buyer. He then began a long career in law enforcement. He worked for the Owasso Police Dept. before serving 20 years with the Bixby Police Dept. where he retired. He then worked for the Creek County Sheriff's Office for 9 years. He also served as a member of the National Guard. Some of his favorite activities included going to garage sales, spending time on his computer, going out to eat, cars (especially stock cars), listening to music, camping and watching western movies.
He is survived by his wife, Susan Simons whom he married on August 1, 1983 in Leonard, Oklahoma. He is also survived by his children; Bryan Joseph Simons of Bixby, Tabitha K. Mayo of Glenpool, Jamie Rineheart of Bixby & Michael Culver of Brownsville, TX, 1 sister; Jan Chalakee of Bixby, 3 nephews; Gary, Sam & Travis Chalakee, 14 grandchildren and several other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 brother; Gary and 1 step-son; Randy.
In addition, the family would like to thank the Sojourn Care Hospice for all their assistance in the last few weeks.
Honorary casket bearers included all law enforcement officers.
