A.L. Gilpin, Jr.
A.L. Gilpin, Jr. was born on June 26, 1941 in Howe, Oklahoma to Alvin Louis & Vera Vaye (Barnes) Gilpin. He passed from this life on February 28, 2008 in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 66 years, 8 months & 2 days.
A.L. had been a resident of the Mounds community for the past four years. He was a retired Assembly of God minister and also worked as a driver for Riverside Chevrolet. He was proud to have served his country as a member of the United States Navy. He was a member of the Victory Assembly of God Church in Lono, Arkansas. Some of his favorite activities included playing the piano, fishing and making fishing lures.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of over 42 years, Carolyn G. (Smith) Gilpin, whom he married on July 24, 1965 in Egypt, Arkansas as well as by 2 daughters; Tammy Williams and husband Darryl, of Broken Arrow, OK & Trisha Gilpin of Little Rock, AR, 1 sister; Bobbie Jean Lawson of Hensley, AR, 1 step-grandchild; D.J. Williams and several other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 sister; Shirley Phelps and a brother-in-law; James Lawson.
Casket bearers were Vern Valiant, Jim Finley, Rod Hurley, Ron Hill, Wilbur George, Jim Kelley, Marcus Stewart & Ed Lahr.
