NORMA ODA GREEN

Norma Oda Green was born on April 1, 1922 in Limestone, Arkansas to John H. Adams & Fannie (Cowell) Adams. She passed from this life on November 16, 2010 in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 88 years, 7 months & 15 days.

Oda had lived in the Bixby area for most of her life after moving here with her family as a young girl. She worked during World War II as a riveter at Spartan Aeronautics but will be most remembered as a wonderful and devoted homemaker. She always made a warm home for her family and the many nieces, nephews and other family that lived with them over the years. She would always cook a big dinner because she never knew how many would be there to eat. She was famous for her "fried taters" as well as many other dishes. She was one of the pillars of the Shellenbarger Free Will Baptist Church and served the church in the nursery for many years where she would display the special gift she always had with children. She was a wonderful Granny to all her family as well as so many others in the church and community.

She married Gene Green on June 2, 1945 in Tulsa and after more than 64 years of marriage, he preceded her in death on Dec. 24, 2009. She was also preceded by 2 brothers & 5 sisters.

She is survived by 2 daughters; Barbara Sue Skaggs and husband Roy, of Bixby & Donna Gibson and husband Joe, of Leonard, 2 sons; Jerry Green and wife Sandy, of Bixby & Joe Ray Blevins of Broken Arrow, 8 grandchildren; Carla Barber, Joey D. Gibson, Billy Gibson, Regina Sklenar, Dawn Fegaly, Shawn Green, Josh Gibson & Jacob Gibson, 14 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Casket bearers are Joe D. Gibson, Billy Gibson, Josh Gibson, Jacob Gibson, Shawn Green, Kenneth Barber, Jason Fegaly & Joe Sklenar. Music will be provided by Donna Gibson and Pat Cox.
