BERTHINA MAY HALE

Berthina May Hale was born on July 10, 1936 in Rascal Flatts, Oklahoma to Tommy Heaton & Gladys May (Berry) Heaton. She passed from this life on January 29, 2011 at her home in Glenpool, Oklahoma at the age of 74 years, 6 months & 19 days.

Berthina was a devoted wife and loving mother. She built her family on a foundation of Love. Her husband, Bill Hale, says that she was his best friend until the end. Whatever anyone needed, family or not, she was there to give it. Her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews all recall her tender heart and teaching spirit. Bert was queen of card and tile games like SkipBo and Dominoes and she had all the kids of the family almost playing before they could read. Her great-granddaughter, Autumn, 8, remembers, "My Grandma Birt is very special to me. We used to wake up real early have a cup of coffee and read comics on the newspaper. Then me and my Grandma Birt both made the best frinch-toast in the world. After that we sat down on the couch and read books and then my favorite play games together. I love my Grandma." All of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren have similar fond memories of Berthina. (although some recall early morning trips to the donut shop instead of French toast).

The most important thing Berthina taught her family was to honor God and to know Jesus. Many family members credit her with leading them to Christ. She also spent many years teaching a Sunday School Class at her church.

Berthina was funny and loved to laugh. She was caring and wanted to help anyone that needed it. She was a shoulder to cry on and always listened and offered wise advise. She had a strong work ethic and taught the younger generations to work hard and to strive. All that knew her, no matter how short the time became better people for having been fortunate enough to be a part of her life.

Berthina lost an earthly battle to cancer, but won an eternity in Heaven with Jesus. Her family and friends will miss her dearly but look forward to the day when they will be reunited with her in Heaven.

She is survived by her loving husband; Billy G. Hale whom she married on July 1, 1982 in Denver, CO, her mother; Gladys Heaton of Jenks, OK, 1 son; Jonathan Hogue and wife Patti, of Centerton, AR, 4 daughters; Terri Lynn Sukop of Sand Point, Idaho, Billie Jean Thompson and husband Michael, of Broken Arrow, Shelly Padget of Phoenix, AZ & Rebekah Shumate of Broken Arrow, 2 sisters; Laverne Wallace of Tulsa & Elsie McCartney of Vacaville, CA, 14 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and several other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her father and 1 son; Delbert Hogue, Jr.
