I hadn't really kept up with the Hinton's since high school until the past few years and now I can't imagine not being able to say that they are my friends. Tommie and Norma gave me more of a best friend in their daughter, Jan, than most people could possibly dream of having. This past year with all the different hospital stays and surgerys that Tommie had gone through, I tried so hard to keep up with how he was doing by calling Jan for updates and visiting him in the hospital once. I only wish I could have done more for this family. My most vivid memory of Tommie was his little blue Datsun station wagon. Tommie's Baby... I do believe he loved it as much as he did his wife and children. It was always such a treat for Jan and I to get to drive it when we were still in school. I can still picture him, probably headed home from work, driving south on Memorial with his little hat cocked to the side. He never said much, always a quiet man, and I often wondered if he even liked me all those years ago when I stayed in their home so often. Now that I'm older, I guess he did because I never got ran off! Norma, Jan, David & Becky-- My heart breaks for you, my prayers are with you and I'm so blessed to know you and even more proud to be able to call you my friends... I'm only a phone call away.
