Houston Leon Johnson
Houston Leon Johnson was born on March 7, 1933 in Stilwell, Oklahoma to Houston Blaine & Helen Francis (Carlile) Johnson. He went to be with his Heavenly Father on Feb. 1, 2006 in Bixby, Oklahoma at the age of 72 years, 10 months & 25 days.
Leon was proud to have served his country as a member of the United States Army from 1952 to 1955. He also served his community as President and member of the Bixby Public Schools Board of Education from March, 1980 through February, 2000. He was a longtime, active member of the Riverview Baptist Church as well as the Millennium Masonic Lodge #543 and the Tulsa Scottish Rite. He worked as a real estate broker for the Century 21-J.Carol Taylor realtors and was a member of the Greater Tulsa Association of Realtors. The warm and welcoming smile of Leon will be greatly missed by his loving wife, his children, family members and many friends. Leon was a stranger to no one. He possessed a God-given gift of making people feel welcome and at ease. He never failed to go out of his way to help those he loved, no matter what the reason, cost or the distance.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of over 52 years, Lea Alice Johnson whom he married on December 21, 1953 in Muskogee, as well as by 3 children; Rebecca Ann Andrews and her husband Alan, of Wichita, Kansas, Houston Leon Johnson, Jr. and his wife Patty, of Jenks & Lea Ann Hanseth and her husband Michael of Ft. Hood, Texas, 5 grandchildren; Rachel Adrienne Cady, Megan Johnson, Kristen Johnson, Edwin Horn & Thomas Horn, 1 great-grandson; Brendan Cady, 2 sisters; Elizabeth Perry and her husband Ed, of Holdenville, OK & Elaine Shepherd and her husband Kenneth, of Jenks, 1 brother; Kenneth Delno Johnson of Arkansas and several other relatives, good friends and church family.
Casket bearers were Daniel Cady, Thomas Horn, Victor Pinamonti, Tom Daniels, Fred Dunlap & Harold Dunlap. Honorary bearers were Ron Phillips, Gary King, Otis Tune, Bill Davis, Warren Dunlap & Bill Bell.
In lieu of flowers, memorials should be directed to the Bixby Education Endowment Foundation, 109 N. Armstrong, Bixby, OK 74008 or the Riverview Baptist Church Building Fund, 13201 S. Memorial Dr., Bixby, OK 74008.
