RUBY ERUDY KING
Ruby Erudy King was born on August 3, 1911 in Waverly, Tennessee to William Marshall Slayton and Melinda Evelyn Cooley. She passed from this life on November 22, 2011 in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma at the age of 100 years, 3 months & 9 days.
Ruby was a longtime resident of the Jenks community. She was married to John William Dawson for 16 years until his death in December, 1952. She was married to Finis Howard King for 28 years until his death in October, 1982. She was a devoted wife and mother. She was passionate about gardening, pecan picking, her quilting and she loved fishing.
In addition to her husbands and parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter; Melinda Emma Jean Dawson in March, 1937 and by her five brothers and four sisters.
She is survived by 2 daughters; Mary Dawson Rice and husband Earon, of Jenks, OK & Ruby Davis of Tulsa, OK, 6 grandchildren; Diann Rice Smith, Jane Rice Jergensen, Linda Davis Hughes, Mary Davis Kempf, William Davis & Donald M. Davis, 9 great-grandchildren; Courtney Jergensen, Taylor Jergensen, Misty Kempf, Jessica Kempf Speitel, Eric Kempf, Jeremy Taylor, Marcus Hughes, Olivia Hughes & Ray Davis, 3 great-great-grandchildren; Savana, Issiah & Jia and many nieces, nephews & cousins.
Casket bearers are David Smith, Scott Jergensen, Charles Cooley, Jeremy Taylor, Ron Hughes & Eddie Kempf, Jr. Honorary bearers are William Davis & Earon Rice.
