JOSEPH FRANKLIN McBRAYER
Joseph Franklin McBrayer was born on July 7, 1935 in Redland, Oklahoma to Joseph Greenleaf McBrayer & Leona Bell (Jennings) McBrayer. He passed from this life on June 2, 2009 at his home in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 73 years, 10 months & 26 days.
Joe had lived in the Liberty Mounds community from 1970 to 1988 when he worked for Standard Oil and Amoco Oil as a computer programmer, systems analyst and head of their computer security. He moved to Eureka Springs, Arkansas where he and his wife owned and operated the Brackenridge Lodge from 1986 to 2001 before moving back to Tulsa. He was proud to have served his country as a member of the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a member of the Goodwater Masonic Lodge in Haworth, OK and was also involved with Jr. Achievement, the Bixby Methodist Church and was one of the founding members of the Liberty Volunteer Fire Department. Some of his favorite activities included fishing, gardening and boating.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 52 years, Eunice C. (Moore) McBrayer, whom he married on June 1, 1957 in Oakland, Maryland. He is also survived by 3 daughters; Debbie Earls of Eureka Springs, AR, Leisa Toops of Bixby & Amanda Berger and husband Chris, of Conway, MO, 1 son; J.D. McBrayer and wife Lori, of Bixby, 3 sisters; Grethel Clay of Richardson, TX, Leonara Farley of Midwest City, OK & Dorothy Harris of Idabel, OK, 11 grandchildren; Keri Hattenhauer, Kyle Earls, Kurtis Earls, Rachel Toops, Samantha Toops, Bradley McBrayer, Brandon McBrayer, Cameron McBrayer, Christopher Berger, Gunnar Berger & Ryder Berger, 2 great-grandchildren; Anastacia Hattenhauer & Austin Hattenhauer. He was preceded in death by 6 siblings.
Casket bearers are Bradley McBrayer, Brandon McBrayer, Cameron McBrayer & Kurtis Earls. Music was provided by Wendy Lawhorn.
