MARY SUSAN BEATRICE ASKINS METCALF
Mary Susan Beatrice Askins Metcalf was born on August 25, 1913 in Clarksville, Arkansas to Clarence Golden & Jewel Ethel (Guthrie) Askins. She passed from this life on November 6, 2007 in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 94 years, 2 months & 12 days.
Beatrice was a longtime Bixby resident that formerly owned Ted's Grill, Kafer's Café and the Glencliff Dairy Store. She also worked for Doc's Grocery Store, the Ben Franklin's store and Emma Brown's Flower Shop. She was formerly active in the Eastern Star. Some of her favorite activities included traveling, quilting, crochet, cooking and studying the Bible.
She married Lloyd Ivan Metcalf on April 21, 1935 in Bixby and after more than 33 years of marriage, he preceded her in death on July 13, 1968. She was also preceded by 1 brother; Silas Floyd Askins and 1 sister; Audra "Pete" Patterson. She is survived by 1 son; Dr. Roger Metcalf and wife LeAnn, of Bixby, 2 sisters; Wanda Jewel Weiser of Tulsa & Joyce Dean Benjamin of Kansas City, Kansas, 1 brother; Clarence Lee Askins of Tulsa, 3 grandchildren; Pamela Ann Maddox and husband Robert, of Starkville, Mississippi, Sheryl Lynn Cowan and husband Brent, of Bixby & Paula Suzanne Ramsey and husband Shannon, of Tulsa, 8 grandchildren; Caitlin, Logan & Cameron Maddox, Evan Wolff, Preston & Faith Cowan, Savannah & Blake Ramsey, 1 brother-in-law; Luther Metcalf and wife Sybil, of Bixby and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and family friends.
Casket bearers are Jerry Metcalf, Dennis Metcalf, Gary Weiser, Shannon Ramsey, Brent Cowan & Robert Maddox. Music will be provided by Cindy Foster.
