VIOLET MAY POTTS
Violet May Potts was born on March 23, 1913 in Tulsa County, Oklahoma to Samuel Lovitt & Mary Emmaline (Creekmore) Lovitt. She passed from this life on July 10, 2009 in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma at the age of 96 years, 3 months & 17 days.
Violet had lived in the Bixby community virtually all of her life. She worked for the Bixby Public Schools from 1954 to 1964 before beginning a long career as a cook for Oral Roberts University until her retirement in 1980. Her family lovingly remembers her hard work and dedication to them after she became a widow at a very young age. She was a member of the Riverview Baptist Church and was active in the Bixby Senior Citizens Group.
She married William Burl Potts on July 15, 1933 in Bixby and he preceded her in death on November 3, 1959. She was also preceded by her parents, 2 brothers & 5 sisters.
She is survived by 1 son; Edward Potts and wife Flo, of Bixby, 6 daughters; Dee Woods of Bixby, Sandra Cox of Bixby, Francine Goodwin and husband Vic, of Bixby, Carolyn Miller of Haskell, Phyllis Matthews of Bixby & Charolette Naten of Bixby, 14 grandchildren; Gloria Washington, Laura & Diane Woods, Gary Cox, Greg, Geoff & Brad Potts, Renae Watkins, Dan Brooks, Michelle & Kenny Miller, Julie Matthews, Kristi Dorris & Michael Naten, 10 great-grandchildren; Nikki Gordineer, Alex & Casey Cox, Annabella & Sophia Potts, Sandy & Barbara Watkins, Avery & Kinley Miller & Alisa Naten, 6 great-grandchildren; Tommy, Haley, Giovanni & Frankie Gordineer, Ethan & Audrey Blaylock and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Casket bearers are Gary Cox, Kenny Miller, Greg Potts, Geoff Potts & Brad Potts. Honorary bearers are Dan Brooks & Michael Naten.
