Rachel Smith

Rachel Smith was born on August 21, 1918 in Huntsville, Alabama to Isom & Mary Jane (Willis) Terry. She passed from this life on May 11, 2006 at her home in Leonard, Oklahoma at the age of 87 years, 8 months & 20 days.

Rachel attended the Leonard School as a young girl and had lived most of her life in the Leonard community. She worked at Spartan Aeronautics during World War II. She will always be remembered as a very hard-working woman that would always rather be outside. She loved to garden and could often be found working in her flower and vegetable gardens. When she was inside, she loved to quilt and bake pies. She was also a longtime member of the T.O.P.S. club.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wesley Smith on April 4, 1975 as well as by 2 step-sons; Lyle & H.D. Smith, 6 brothers and 3 sisters. She is survived by 2 sons; Don Smith of Leonard & Ronnie Smith of Leonard, 1 step-son; James Wesley Smith of Tulare, CA, 1 step-daughter; Joanne Waid of Claremore, 1 sister; Ann Biggs of Langley, OK, 9 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren as well as several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Casket bearers were Paul Hampton, Steve Hampton, Jimmy Hampton & Carl Osborn. Music was provided by Rosie Gibson, Leonard Crockett & Hubert Willis.
