CHRISTINE V. RUSSELL

Christine V. Russell was born on February 7, 1920 in Grand Portage, Minnesota to Nelson & Elizabeth (Flatt) Naganub. She passed from this life on May 9, 2008 in Bixby, Oklahoma at the age of 88 years, 3 months & 2 days.

Christine grew up in Minnesota and was very proud of her Native American Indian heritage. She was a member of the Minnesota Chippewa tribe and was given the Indian name of Wasegeezhegok which translates to "lights up the sky woman". She served her country during World War II as a United States Navy nurse. She married her husband, Dr. John F. Russell on October 15, 1949 and continued working as a nurse for many years as they gave great care to many area patients in their medical practice. She was a member of St. Clements Catholic Church and was also a member of the Osteopathic Women's Auxiliary. She will also be remembered for her love of playing bingo.

She is survived by her loving husband, Dr. John F. Russell of Bixby, 2 adopted daughters; Vickie Lynn & Debbie Clay and many former patients and good friends. She was preceded in death by 2 sons; Michael Russell and an infant son, 1 brother; Mark and 2 sisters; Agnes & Suzanne.
