DR.JOHN FREDERICK RUSSELL

John Frederick Russell was born on October 7, 1923 in Marble City, Oklahoma to Earl Frederick & Latiech (Holcomb) Russell. He passed from this life on July 27, 2008 in Bixby, Oklahoma at the age of 84 years, 9 months & 21 days.

John F. Russell served his country as a proud member of the United States Navy during World War II. It is there that he met the love of his life Christine (Naganub) Russell. They were married on October 15, 1949 and enjoyed over 58 years of marriage until Christine's death on May 9, 2008. John F. Russell graduated from Kansas City College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1953. He lived in Tularosa, New Mexico before moving to Bixby 44 years ago and starting his practice. He and Christine worked along side each other helping to heal those who were ill. "Doc Russell" as he was affectionately called, was a lifetime member of the Oklahoma Osteopathic Association, the American Osteopathic Association, the Pan American Allergy Society, and the Tulsa Doctors Osteopathic Association. Doc Russell also enjoyed volunteering for Project Get Together. Some of his hobbies included camping, fishing, and gardening. One story Doc loved to share was that he was Mayor of Bixby for a total of about one hour.

He is survived by 2 (adopted by love) daughters; Vickie Lynn and Debbie Clay, both of Mounds, 2 cousins; Dr. Harold Dunlap, and Barbara Chambers, and other family members. Dr John F. Russell loved caring for people and helping others. He will be sorely missed by all that knew and loved him.
