Leslie Quinton "Dee" Shanks was born on May 3, 1923 in White Church, Oklahoma to Perry Ivan & Gertrude (Barrows) Shanks. He passed from this life on October 1, 2008 in Muskogee, Oklahoma at the age of 85 years, 4 months & 28 days.

"Dee" had lived in this area virtually all of his life. He was proud to have served his country as a member of the United States Navy. For most of his life, he worked as an oilfield drilling contractor and farmer. While he will be most remembered as a very hard worker, he also greatly enjoyed hunting and fishing with his brothers.

He married Wilma J. (Littlefield) Shanks on June 10, 1943 in Ocean Beach, California and after more than 58 years of marriage, she preceded him in death on December 1, 2001. He was also preceded by a sister; Maxine Watkins and a brother; Troy Shanks. He is survived by 1 son; Larry Quinton Shanks of Muskogee, 1 daughter; Lesylee Gayle Kirk of Rose, OK, 1 brother; Leroy Shanks of Leonard, 7 grandchildren; Charity Diane Aguilera, Darci Shanks, Clay Shanks, Kelly Jean Ogle, Lisa Jandebeur, Charles Kirk & Sharon Boyd, 8 great-grandchildren and several other relatives and good friends.
