Ruby Geraldine Shanks was born on February 23, 1939 in Okmulgee County, Oklahoma to Eric Earl Shanks & Ruby (Walkup) Shanks. She passed from this life on December 13, 2008 at her home in Leonard, Oklahoma at the age of 69 years, 9 months & 20 days.

Geraldine had lived in this area virtually all of her life. She graduated with honors from Bixby High School and worked many years as an administrative assistant for Watkins Sand Co. and it's owners, Frank & Adrion Watkins. She was affiliated with the Leonard First Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by an infant daughter; Rebecca Watkins, her parents; Eric & Ruby Shanks and her grandparents; Lucy & Earl Shanks and Molly & Sam Walkup. She is survived by 3 daughters; Angela Watkins Duff of Leonard, Regina Watkins Olivares of Tulsa & Melissa Watkins Chavez of Leonard, 3 sisters; Shirley Shanks Zeiler of Mounds, Sharron Shanks Campbell of Leonard & Catherine Shanks Harris of Leonard, 3 brothers; James Earl Shanks of Mounds, Robert Lee Shanks of Leonard & Gary Wayne Shanks of Tulsa, 5 grandchildren; Amanda Forrest Kerr and husband Sgt. Lucas A. Kerr, James (J.D.) Nalder, Mercedez R. Hernandez, Alejandro Chavez & Rayne Redbird Reynolds, 3 great-grandchildren; Maely McHugh, Gunner Kerr & Layla Kerr as well as several nieces, nephews, other relatives & friends.
