Idelle Smith

Idelle Smith was born on December 15, 1923 in Cherokee County, Oklahoma to Louis Elmer & Ruffie (McMillen) Farmer. She passed from this life on January 24, 2007 at her home in Glenpool, Oklahoma at the age of 83 years, 1 month & 9 days.

Idelle was a resident of the Leonard community for most of her life. She was a very devoted and hard-working homemaker, wife and mother that loved gardening, cooking, baking, canning and picking out pecans. At one time or another, she was considered a second mom to most of the children of the Leonard community. She was a longtime member of the Leonard First Baptist Church.

She married Charley Lee Smith on July 13, 1939 in Peggs, Oklahoma and after almost 65 years of marriage, he preceded her in death on April 8, 2004. She was also preceded by 2 sisters; Dorothy James & Verba Farmer. She is survived by 4 sons; Dr. Harold Smith and wife Dr. Cleta Smith of Arlington, TX, Marvin Smith of Iola, Kansas, Calvin Smith and wife Brenda Kay, of Stillwater and Rev. Terry Smith and wife Glenda, of Glenpool, 2 sisters; Tressie White & Wilma Vaughn both of Hulbert, OK, 1 brother; Loyal Farmer of Lawton, OK, 9 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Casket bearers were her grandsons. Music was provided by Donna Gibson & Joe Donelson.
