LULA SMITH

Lula Smith was born on March 31, 1939 in Leonard, Oklahoma to Joe & Violet G. (Willey) Hogan. She passed from this life on April 2, 2007 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, 2 days after her 68th birthday.

Lula was a member of the 1957 graduating class of Bixby High School. She was an All-State basketball player and a member of the girl's state championship basketball team in her senior year. She was also the football queen in that same year. She worked for Glass-Nelson Medical Clinic for several years, the City of Bixby for 10 years and retired from the City of Glenpool as the Court Clerk. She loved going to Branson where she would always see the Baldknobbers. She knew all of the cast members by name and would often visit with them after shows. She also loved fishing and listening to Conway Twitty and will forever be remembered for her friendly spirit and how she never met a stranger.

She is survived by her husband of almost 22 years, Curtis Smith of Bixby, 2 daughters; Lisa Schlabaugh of Tulsa & Teresa Perry and husband Mike, of Catoosa, 2 sisters; Freda Huelsenbeck of Sand Springs & Betty Smith of Bixby, 2 brothers; Buster Hogan of Leonard & Ralph Hogan of Hectorville, 4 grandchildren; Melissa Perry, Brandon Schlabaugh, Mikey Perry & Dillon Perry, 1 great-granddaughter; Laina VanDyke, her mother-in-law; Cleora Smith of Locust Grove, 3 step-children; Mike Smith, Craig Smith & Shelly Smith, 4 step-grandchildren; Justin, Erica, Christopher & Wyatt and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and good friends. She was preceded by her parents and three brothers; Fred, Bill & Kenneth Hogan.

Music was provided by Steven Redfearn.
