JOHN STIGER, JR.

John Stiger, Jr. was born on September 27, 1930 in White City, Kansas to John Stiger and Laura Etta (Chambers) Stiger. He passed from this life on June 28, 2011 at his home in Mounds, Oklahoma at the age of 80 years, 9 months & 1 day.

John had lived in this area for many years. He was proud to have served his country as a member of the National Guard. He will forever be remembered as a very hard working man that could do just about anything. Some of his many jobs included running an ice plant in Claremore, driving a truck for Herd Equipment, operating a backhoe for the Mounds Water Dept., owning and operating the Mounds Garage as well as co-owing and operating the Mounds Café. He was a member of the Mounds First Baptist Church, Masonic Lodge and the Mounds Volunteer Fire Dept. He loved Model-T's and was also a member of the Model-T Club for many years.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of almost 62 years, Elsie Louise (Light) Stiger whom he married on September 1, 1949 in Claremore, OK. He is also survived by 3 daughters; Joyce Bates and husband Robert, of Sperry, Janice Kay Stiger of Mounds & Jacqueline Marie Stiger of Mounds, 1 son; Alfred Allen Stiger and wife Katherine, of Beggs, 1 sister; Janie Duncan of Chelsea, OK, 3 brothers; Bryan Stiger of Claremore, Richard Stiger of Claremore & Bill Stiger of Talala, OK, 10 grandchildren, a host of great-grandchildren and several other relatives and good friends.

Casket bearers are Brett Stiger, Shane Stiger, Mark Long, Keith Long, Chad Long & Jason Wilborn. Honorary bearers are Matt Stiger, Dakota Walters & Savanna Walters.
