Avis Ann Thomason became absent from the body and face to face with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ January 22, 2010, at age 75 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Avis was born in Hutchison, Kansas to Claude and Vera Harris and, shortly after World War II, moved to a small family farm in the Ozarks. She was preceded in death by her sister, Claudine and her youngest son, Terry. She is survived by her husband of more than 50 years, Roy Lee Thomason and their son Roy Lee Thomason, Jr. and his wife Ellen, and her grandchildren Elizabeth and Margo of Tulsa and Lauren and Jordan of Springfield, Missouri.

Avis was an active member of First Baptist Church, Tulsa for more than 50 years and served as the director of Mothers Day Out at the church for 17 years, loving the children as she served young families. Avis was involved in WMU, Girls in Action, Women's Prayer Circle and many other activities and ministries, which included having a role in the start of the clothing ministry and food pantry.

Avis and Roy were active members of their Sunday School Class and hosted many Christmas parties and dinners and truly enjoyed their many dear friends. They were one of the founding couples of South Tulsa Baptist Church and still had many friends there as well.

Avis worked in the family insurance agency for several years and was a member of Cedar Ridge Country Club and the Tulsa Club. As members of the University of Tulsa Hurricane Club, she and Roy enjoyed supporting the football and basketball teams. Her faith in Jesus Christ, and her love and care for her family and friends is what gave her joy.
