Violet D. Young

Violet D. Young was born on May 22, 1916 in Sequoyah County, Oklahoma to Isaac P. & Rosa (Montgomery) Howell. She passed from this life on March 6, 2007 in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 90 years, 9 months & 12 days.

Violet was a well-respected resident of the Bixby community for many years. She will be remembered as a loving and devoted homemaker and many will also remember her for the years she worked at their service station with her husband and son. Some of her favorite hobbies included fishing, bowling and working in her flower gardens.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Young on January 16, 1984 as well as by 8 siblings. She is survived by 1 son; Ted Young of Bixby, 4 sisters; Vadis Walters of Modesto, California, Retha Baker of Bixby, Bonnie McDaniels of Siloam Springs, Arkansas & Margie Bell and husband Junior, of Bixby, 2 Step-Grandsons; Lee Cherry & Robbie Cherry, 3 Step-Great-Grandsons; Cody, Tristin & Brody Cherry, 3 great-nieces that she helped raise; Kelli Dowler of Bixby, Angie Davis of Mounds & Jill Davis of Tulsa, 1 great-nephew; Ray Davis of Tulsa, 1 great-great niece; Jenny Dowler and a host of other nieces, nephews, other relatives and good friends.

Memorials may be made in her name to the Bixby Educational Endowment Foundation.
