Vera Ann Young was born on August 15, 1920 in Salina, Oklahoma to Robert Lee Marler and Ethel (Lafferty) Marler. She passed from this life on March 30, 2010 in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 89 years, 7 months & 15 days.

Vera had lived in the Leonard community for over 66 years. She and her family were well-respected farmers and also had a dairy. She was a member of the Bixby First Baptist Church and also was involved for several years with the quilting club of the Leonard First United Methodist Church. She will be remembered as an excellent cook as well as a seamstress. She liked to sing at church and was also a very competitive domino player.

She married Clyde James Young on December 25, 1938 and after more than 49 years together, he preceded her in death on January 19, 1988. She was also preceded by 2 brothers; Roy & Arlen Marler and 3 sisters; Lorene Lamb, Merle Roberts & Irma Trotter.

She is survived by 1 daughter; Barbara Shepherd and husband Jim, of Broken Arrow, 2 sons; Marvin Young, Sr. and wife JoAnn, of Leonard & Bob Young and wife Tish, of Leonard, 7 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great-grandchildren as well as several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Casket bearers are Clint Brewer, Cody Brewer, Ralph Roberts, Finas Young, Marvin Young, Jr., Michael Young & Steven Young. Honorary bearer is Tommy Gibson, Sr.
